A playground is taking shape…and a community hall is renewed!
Here is an update from two Unitarian communities in Transylvania that received our 2018 Faithify campaign matching funds for their kaláka projects:
Városfalva (Orășeni)
Volunteers in Varosfalva have been clearing the site, cutting and preparing the lumber, and beginning installation of a fence. The village is planning an opening ceremony to celebrate their new community playground in August.
Villagers work to shape and prepare poles cut from the common forest.
Kalaka volunteer projects mean everybody pitches in!

Brassó (Brașov)
In Brassó, volunteers have been working hard this summer to renovate the community hall in the Family Support Center, a central hub for neighboring Unitarian villages. They have installed a new floor, repaired walls and ceiling, and created new notice boards with hand-painted tradition designs, among other improvements.
Volunteers unload lumber for the new floor.
Old ceilings and walls receive fresh coats of plaster and paint, after weeks of repair work and weather-related delays
Installation of the new floor begins. It will be sanded and lacquered so it will become a good surface for dancing.
