A Playground for Székelyderzs (Darjiu) 

– Fundraising Goal: $750   Fully Funded!

“Help us to create the first public playground to serve the historic community of Székelyderzs.”

A playground is planned adjacent to the Székelyderzs Unitarian church, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

A group of young mothers in this community of 1,000 Hungarian Unitarians plans to construct a fence around the green space adjacent to the Unitarian church and purchase playground equipment, including a slide, see-saw, and sandbox, and picnic table with bench.

“Our children need a safe and sheltered place to play. Help us to create the first public playground to serve the historic community of Székelyderzs.”

2016 Székelyderzs Final Report 

A Daycare Center in Homoródszentpéter (Petreni) 

– Fundraising Goal: $750      Fully Funded!

“We’re not just building a daycare center, we are building the future! ”

Children from Homoródszentpéter and neighboring villages

The village of Homoródszentpéter (Petreni) began restoring its kindergarten more than 10 years ago. To serve more children, they are adding the area’s first-of-its-kind daycare center in the village. The project will fund the daycare dormitory with new beds and other furnishings, a new refrigerator for the daycare kitchen, an adult bathroom, and extended playground facilities.

“The people in our village have joined forces to continue what we started so long ago. We thank you with our children’s smiles.”

Expand the Community Hall in  Torockoszentgyorgy (Coltesti)

The people of Torockoszentgyorgy (Coltesti) have a dream to expand the small Community Hall where villagers gather for festivities, workshops, meetings, and public events. The expansion will provide essential upgrades and dedicated spaces for cultural, educational and spiritual activities for groups of various ages. The first step is constructing a foundation for the new wing.   “Our goal is to create a space where community life thrives.”

2016 Final Project Report 

Restore the Unitarian Church in Firtosvaralja (Firtusu) 

– Fundraising Goal: $725    Fully Funded!

“Our dream is to renovate the ancient church that has sustained our community for two centuries.”

Firtosvaralja Unitarian Church has been closed for repairs for three years

Firtosvaralja Unitarian Church has been closed for repairs for three years. Planned renovations will restore the heart of this community

For six years this village of Hungarian Unitarians has not had the use of its church. Now, volunteers plan restore the pews, weave new carpets, and sew new embroideries. This proposal calls for local carpenters to restore the church pews. Area volunteers will repaint the restored pews. The weaving of carpets and sewing of embroidery will be the responsibility of the local Women’s Association.
